Strides is a private team‑management app for cross‑country and track programs. It is used by coaches to manage their roster, attendance, workouts, and training mileage. This policy explains what information Strides collects, how it is used, and your choices. We do not sell personal information, and athlete data is visible only to that athlete's own coaching staff — never publicly.
Who the app is for
Strides is operated for a coach and their team. Athletes on a roster are added and managed by their coach or program. Where athletes are minors, their information is provided and managed by the coaching staff/school in connection with the team's athletic program.
Information we collect
- Account information — for coaches/staff who sign in: name, email address, and a securely hashed password.
- Roster & program data — entered by coaches: athlete names, grade/graduation year, gender, and optional details a coach chooses to record (e.g., emergency contact, medical notes, phone numbers).
- Training data — attendance, workout/tempo results, run times, and weekly mileage.
- Strava activity data — only if an athlete chooses to connect their Strava account (see below).
Strava integration
Connecting Strava is optional and initiated by the athlete authorizing access through Strava's
official login. With activity:read permission we retrieve a summary of the athlete's
activities — date, type, distance, moving/elapsed time, pace, elevation, and average heart rate —
so their coach can see training mileage and runs.
- We use Strava data only to display an athlete's runs and weekly mileage to their own coach within the app.
- We do not post to Strava, modify Strava data, sell it, or share it publicly.
- An athlete can disconnect at any time (in the app, or at strava.com/settings/apps), which revokes our access. Their stored activity summaries can be removed on request.
- Our use of Strava data complies with the Strava API Agreement. Strava is a third‑party service with its own privacy policy.
How we use information
To operate the app for the team: authenticating coaches, showing the roster and athlete profiles, recording attendance and workouts, calculating training paces and weekly mileage, and (if connected) syncing Strava runs. We do not use this data for advertising and do not sell it.
How information is shared
- Coaching staff on the athlete's team can view that team's data.
- Service providers that host the app (cloud hosting and database) process data on our behalf under appropriate safeguards.
- Strava, only as described above, when an athlete connects their account.
- We may disclose information if required by law or to protect safety.
Data storage & security
Data is stored on secured cloud infrastructure. Connections use HTTPS/TLS, passwords are hashed, and access tokens are stored securely. No method of transmission or storage is 100% secure, but we take reasonable measures to protect your information.
Data retention & your choices
We keep information for as long as the team uses Strides. Coaches can edit or remove athletes and related records. To request access, correction, or deletion of personal information — or to remove a Strava connection and its stored activities — contact us below.
Children's information
Strides is used in a school/team setting and may contain information about athletes under 18, provided and managed by their coaching staff/school as part of the athletic program. We handle this information consistent with applicable law and only for the team's use. Parents/guardians may contact the coaching staff or us to review or remove a student's information.
Changes
We may update this policy; material changes will be reflected by a new effective date on this page.
